Pune: A group of assailants stormed into a beer bar and brutally attacked four individuals in a revenge-driven assault, leaving two seriously injured.
The attackers, armed with machetes, aluminum pipes, and paving blocks, inflicted severe injuries on the victims, with two losing consciousness and currently receiving treatment at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital.
The incident occurred at a beer bar in Warje Malwadi when Ravi Jadhav, Yash Gholap, and Barkya Lonare, along with 14 to 15 accomplices, attacked the group.
The assault is believed to be in retaliation for the murder of their friend, Omkar Lohakare, by an associate of Shubham Uphale about a year ago.
According to the police, the complainant, Nitin Jamadar, was at the bar with his friends, including Shubham Uphale. Before the group could react, the assailants entered the bar and began attacking them.
While Shubham managed to escape, Nitin and others, including Pratik Bhokre and Rohit Rahate, were severely injured. The attackers fled after making threats.
The injured were rushed to the hospital, with Bhokre and Rahate in critical condition. The police have registered a case of attempted murder against the assailants, and the investigation is ongoing under Police Inspector Badakh.
In August, a violent incident had occurred on Pune-Satara Road when a group of individuals assaulted the security guard and cashier at a bar after a dispute over a matchbox.
The accused have been identified as Prafulla Ransing, Ranjit alias Pitambar Ghodeke (25), Krishna Sapkal (26), and Gajanan Asalkar (26).
The complaint was filed by Arvind Lajjiram Yadav (19, resident of Madhushala Bar, Chaitanya Nagar, Satara Road, Dhanakawadi), who works as a security guard at the bar.
