Pune: Belvalkar Housing Director (Technical) Ajit Belvalkar passed away on July 13 in Switzerland due to a severe heart attack. Belvalkar, aged 54, was in Switzerland on vacation.
He is survived by his mother Meena, wife Sampada, son Neel, daughter Nirmohi, and brother Sameer. According to family friend Rajesh Damle, Belvalkar's body will be brought to Pune in the next 2-3 days, after which the funeral will take place.
An architect who graduated from the University of Pune, Ajit Belvalkar was known for exploring and experimenting with low-cost, environmentally-friendly alternatives to standard construction materials and methods. His project achievements include several eco-friendly housing projects that set new benchmarks in sustainable living.
A respected figure in the construction industry, he was known for his innovative projects and sustainable building practices. He was an expert in project management and enjoyed a wide range of activities, including wildlife photography.
He was also an accomplished Sarod player and actively organized cultural events through the Belvalkar Cultural Forum.
