Bharati Vidyapeeth: Speeding tanker collides with seven vehicles

Collision involved two cars and six two-wheelers. Two women on the two-wheeler sustained serious injuries, and a young man was also injured.

Pune: In a disturbing incident that unfolded just days after a minor driving a tanker caused injuries to two girls and a woman, a speeding tanker collided with seven vehicles in the Bharati Vidyapeeth area on Sunday (30th) at 8 PM, resulting in injuries to two individuals.

Due to police being preoccupied with pilgrimage security duties, there was a delay in reaching the accident spot. According to an eyewitness and the injured rickshaw driver, the accident occurred around 8:30 PM.

The driver was traveling from Trimurti Chowk towards Pride High School on Nilgiri Tree Road in Ambegaon Pathar when he noticed a tanker approaching at high speed.

The tanker was being driven recklessly. Attempting to avoid a collision, the rickshaw driver moved to the left, but the tanker still hit the rickshaw and proceeded to collide with six to seven other vehicles.

The collision involved two cars and six two-wheelers. Two women on one of the two-wheelers sustained serious injuries, and a young man was also injured. Citizens quickly apprehended the tanker driver and gave him a severe beating, noting that he appeared to be intoxicated.

Senior Police Inspector Dashrath Patil of Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station stated, "At the time of the incident, all police officers were engaged in pilgrimage security duties. Upon receiving the information, we rushed to the scene. The citizens had already detained the tanker driver. We are currently gathering information on which hospital the injured have been admitted to."

Recently, a speeding water tanker, driven by a 16-year-old boy, had hit a bike on NIBM Road injuring two persons. The injured persons were women wrestlers exercising on the road when the incident happened on Saturday (June 29) early morning in front of Kondhwa Ever Joy Society on NIBM Road. The minor driver and the tanker owner, Mahindra Borate, were taken into police custody.
