Bhor Education Society's Pisware Secondary School has organised a free bird watch for students on the occasion of Bird Week. Pisware Secondary School, Barn Owl Birding Group and Friends Social Foundation are hosting the bird watching free of charge.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of India's naturalist, wildlife conservationist and Marathi writer Maruti Chittampalli, bird watching will be held from 7 am to 10 am every day from November 5 to November 12.

Migratory birds come to the Bhor area during the early winter months. Dhananjay Kothavale, one of the organisers, said the bird watching was organised so that students could see the birds.

A birdwatching round will be held daily in the village.' At least 50 of the 192 species of birds can be found in the area. Ornithologists like Aniket Sapte, Shubhangi Bardade, Vinayak Sapte, Suraj Adsul, Gauri Pradhan, Pritam Adsul and Ravisha Bardade will guide the students in the round.

The habitat of the birds in our area must be maintained. The lotus bird, which was easily found a few years ago, is no longer visible. Also, the low number of birds of prey means that our environment is deteriorating.

Students will be made aware of this. We tend to preserve a territorial bird like the blood-curdling owl. Work is being done to preserve their habitat," said Dhananjay Kothavale.

Students from other places are urged to contact Dhananjay Kothavale (9527269988) to participate in the free bird watching round.
