Pune: The last two days of heavy rains have severely disrupted life in the Bibvewadi and Wadgaon Sheri areas of Pune.

Bibvewadi has experienced a flood-like situation in Mahesh Society Chowk on Swami Vivekananda Road, leading to major traffic jams.

Residents of Gururaj Society near Padmavati on Satara Road are living in fear due to the rising water levels in the Ambil Odha stream, with no information available on the water inflow, increasing their anxiety. Fallen trees on Bibvewadi Kondhwa Road have obstructed traffic, and Swami Vivekananda Road has turned into a river-like state.

The incomplete rainwater pipeline from the upper area is causing rainwater to overflow onto the roads, further exacerbating the situation. However, the unfinished drainage work at Mahesh Society Chowk prevented a major flood.

The Bibvewadi Police Station and Sahakar Nagar traffic police have been managing traffic adjustments to keep the flow smooth. Personnel from the Road, Sewage, and Health Departments are actively monitoring the situation at Mahesh Society Chowk.

Meanwhile, Wadgaon Sheri is facing severe flooding across the Nagar Road area. Continuous rain has led to waterlogging, fallen trees, vehicles stuck in water, and water entering riverside areas, causing widespread disruption.

In the Kharadi Dargah area, water levels reached waist height, and water accumulated in Phoenix and Shastri Nagar Chowk, slowing traffic and causing jams. Flooding in the Ramwadi underpass and near St. Arnold School in Kalyani Nagar halted traffic completely.

The Wadgaon Sheri crematorium was submerged, complicating ritual performances for some citizens. In Bombay Surfers Colony, the mixing of rainwater and sewage pipelines led to extensive waterlogging.

Homes in Sainath Nagar were submerged, and societies like Ujwal Garden and Suprabhat saw water levels rise to waist height, damaging numerous vehicles. Roads in areas such as Aero Mall, Five Nine Chowk, Sanjay Park, and Belvedere Society transformed into streams.

In Anand Park Chowk, a tree fell on a four-wheeler carrying school children, but fortunately, they were saved, although a two-wheeler rider was slightly injured. In Viman Nagar, locals near Rajiv Nagar North blamed a builder for blocking a drain, resulting in flooding.
