Pune: Mayur Munde, a dedicated BJP worker from Pune, who once made waves by constructing a temple in honor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has resigned from the party’s primary membership.

His decision comes as a surprise, especially considering his previous act of reverence towards Modi by giving him a divine status through the construction of a ‘Modi Temple’ in 2021, which had garnered significant attention.

Munde submitted his resignation to BJP’s Maharashtra state president, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, in a formal letter where he outlined the reasons behind his departure from the party. According to Munde, the BJP has increasingly sidelined its loyal members, favoring outsiders in recent years.

In his letter, Munde expressed disappointment with how the party has been operating recently.

He mentioned that despite his years of dedicated service, including roles such as the president of Aundh Pune Ward and vice-president of the youth wing in the Chhatrapati Shivajinagar constituency, he felt marginalized.

He accused the party of sidelining loyalists in favor of newcomers and external contractors.

One of his major grievances was that party positions were being distributed based on personal preferences and recommendations from local MLAs, rather than merit.

He claimed that loyal workers like himself were being overlooked, while contractors and outsiders who had recently joined the party were being given key positions.

Furthermore, Munde alleged that former office bearers were being disrespected and excluded from important meetings, which he believed was negatively affecting both the party’s growth and the development of his constituency.

Munde’s resignation highlights growing discontent within certain factions of the BJP in Pune, particularly regarding the favoritism towards new entrants at the expense of long-standing party workers.

This internal discord may signal broader challenges for the party’s organizational structure at a time when it seeks to solidify its grassroots connections.

Munde, despite his resignation from the BJP, has made it clear that he will continue his work in public service.

He reiterated his commitment to serving the people through social initiatives, even though he has now distanced himself from the party.
