Pune: The Association of Physicians of India (API) and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited have launched the “Take Charge @18” campaign, marking the 18th of every month as “National BP Screening Day.”

This initiative focuses on encouraging blood pressure monitoring from the age of 18 to prevent the growing issue of hypertension in India, particularly among younger populations.

The launch event took place at the iconic Gateway of India, featuring a visually captivating 3D video projection aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of early blood pressure screening.

The campaign’s launch reached over 100,000 healthcare professionals through live-streaming platforms, underscoring the broad scope of the initiative.

As part of the "Take Charge @18" campaign, Glenmark aims to educate 100 million Indians about the dangers of hypertension and the necessity of early blood pressure checks. The company has already achieved significant milestones, including:

  • 50 Youth Awareness Programs targeting college students to encourage regular blood pressure monitoring.

  • Digital Outreach, engaging over 10 million individuals through the website bpincontrol.com, social media platforms, and influencer collaborations.

  • 900+ Hypertension Awareness Rallies held across the country, in alignment with World Hypertension and World Heart Month.

Alok Malik, President and Business Head of India Formulations at Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, said, “The rise in cases among young adults is alarming, and it has become essential to implement preventive measures early.

Through this campaign and our collaboration with API, we hope to equip people with the tools and knowledge to manage their blood pressure effectively. Early action can prevent future health complications and enhance the quality of life.”
