Pune: Education holds the key to improving the economic and social status of families, especially those of construction workers, emphasized Sunil Phulari, Special Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Kolhapur region.
He was speaking to the children of construction workers during a ceremony organized by the Builders Association of India (BAI) Pune Center, where meritorious students were honored for their academic achievements.
"The financial condition of many construction workers is often precarious, but despite these hardships, parents strive to ensure their children receive an education," Phulari said.
He urged the students to make the most of their educational opportunities, as it could transform both their personal and family circumstances. "By focusing on quality education and building their careers, these children can change their economic and social standing," he added.
The ceremony, held at Vishnukrupa Auditorium in Shaniwar Peth, recognized around 100 boys and girls, who were presented with educational materials and certificates for their academic performance.
Prominent attendees included former Vice President of BAI’s Western Region Ranjit More, BAI Pune Center Chairman Sunil Mate, Vice Chairman Ajay Gujjar, Honorary Secretary Rajaram Hajare, Treasurer Shashikant Killedar Patil, and program coordinator Karan Pawar.
Phulari also highlighted the numerous government schemes available for construction workers and their children, calling on the association to help disseminate this information to those who need it.
He encouraged the students to pursue careers in various sectors such as police recruitment and banking, while also advising them to avoid addictions and stay focused on their goals.
"This initiative by BAI to encourage children of construction workers towards education is commendable, and the association should play a guiding role in this regard," he said.
Ranjit More also stressed the importance of education, urging the students to take full advantage of the opportunities available to them to uplift both themselves and their families. He discussed several initiatives that the Builders Association has launched to support construction workers and their families.
The event saw presidential remarks from Sunil Mate and a welcome address by Ajay Gujjar. The program was anchored by Sanjay Apte, with Rajaram Hajare delivering the vote of thanks.
