Pune: In the wake of heavy rainfall that inundated parts of Pune on July 25, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has ordered an urgent clean-up drive to tackle the mud and silt that have flooded homes in several areas.
Key affected regions include Ekta Nagar on Sinhagad Road, Patil Estate near Sancheti Bridge, and Pulachi Wadi at Deccan.
The Chief Minister has directed the district administration to launch a cleanliness operation on a war footing, utilizing the services of the municipal corporation and private cleaning firms.
To this end, Sumit Enterprises will deploy 500 cleaning personnel, and BVG will contribute an additional 100 workers to aid in the removal of mud and debris from residences.
Mud has entered houses in areas such as Ekta Nagar on Sinhagad Road, Patil Estate near Sancheti Bridge, and Pulachi Wadi at Deccan in Pune. As a result, the health of residents in these areas is at risk.
Taking immediate note of this, Chief Minister Shinde has directed the district administration to carry out a deep clean drive.
The Chief Minister has also instructed to seek the help of private cleaning companies Sumit Enterprises and BVG to clean the mud caused by the floodwater entering the houses.
In response to the Chief Minister's appeal, Sumit Enterprises will provide 500 cleaning workers and BVG will provide 100 cleaning workers to remove the mud and clean the houses, the Chief Minister said.
To prevent the spread of diseases due to floodwater and mud, the municipal administration has been instructed to spray disinfectants in the area by the Chief Minister.
