Pune: Cantonment police have arrested a woman and an accomplice for allegedly stealing jewellery from a jewellery shop on the pretext of shopping.
Investigations revealed that the duo had committed theft at jewellery shops in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Mumbai, Thane, Satara and Sindhudurg.
The arrested have been identified as Shekhar Hemraj Wani (32) and Shivani Dilip Salunkhe (24). The incident took place on October 31 when the girl had stolen jewellery from a jewellery shop in Lashkar area.
The Cantonment police registered a case and launched an investigation. The police checked the CCTV footage. It was found that the girl and her accomplice had stolen gold tops worth Rs 95,000 from the jewellery shop. The duo then fled towards Mundhwa on a bike.
Police conducted a search and arrested the two. Investigations have revealed that the duo had committed theft at nine places, including Pimpri-Chinchwad and Sinhagad Road area.
Senior Inspector Girishkumar Dighavkar, Police Inspector (Crime) Pradeep Pawar, Assistant Inspector Vishal Dandage, Police Officer Mahesh Kadam, Sandeep Urkide, Somnath Bansode, Ramesh Chaudhar,
Sachin Manjare, Lokesh Kadam, Alka Brahmane and others took the action under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Smartana Patil and Assistant Commissioner Deepak Nikam.
