Pune: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has revised the exam date for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for the upcoming December session.

Initially scheduled for December 1, the exam has now been postponed to December 15, 2024, due to administrative reasons. The board made this announcement via an official circular.

The CTET is a crucial qualification test for aspiring teachers looking to work in government and private schools across India, specifically for teaching students in classes 1 through 8.

The test is conducted twice a year, in July and December. With the revised schedule, candidates now have an additional two weeks to prepare for the December exam.

According to the circular, if certain cities see a large number of candidates, the exam may also be conducted on December 14, 2024. Following the conclusion of the July session, CBSE has reduced the number of exam centers for the December test from 184 to 136 across the country.

The exam will be conducted in two shifts: the first from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, and the second from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM. CBSE has clarified that all candidates must adhere to their designated shift timings to avoid any inconvenience.

For those wishing to appear in the December session, the registration process is currently open, with the final date for submitting applications being October 16, 2024. Candidates can find additional information and complete their registrations on the official CTET website, https://ctet.nic.in.

The postponement offers candidates more time to prepare and make necessary arrangements, while also accommodating logistical challenges faced by the board.
