Pune: In a commendable display of quick response and diligent investigation, the Sangvi Police successfully recovered eight tola (approximately 93 grams) of gold jewelry lost by a woman within 24 hours of the incident.
The recovery was made possible through the meticulous review of CCTV footage from the area.
The incident unfolded on the evening of August 24, when a 22-year-old woman was traveling by car in the Sangvi area. She stopped near Jawalkar Nagar, Pimple Gurav, to purchase a bottle of water.
In her haste, she accidentally dropped her purse, which contained eight tola of gold, on the road before driving away, unaware of her loss.
It was only later that the woman noticed her purse was missing. She immediately reported the incident to the Sangvi Police, who wasted no time in launching an investigation.
The police reviewed CCTV footage from the route the woman had taken. In the footage, they observed the woman dropping her purse near Kalpataru Society in Jawalkar Nagar while picking up a bottle of water. Further examination revealed that an individual had picked up the purse and left the scene in a car.
Acting swiftly, the police used the car's registration number to trace the individual. Upon contacting the person, the police found that the individual still had the jewelry and was willing to return it. The Sangvi Police then facilitated the return of the valuable items to the relieved woman.
This swift action by the Sangvi Police not only underscores the importance of CCTV surveillance in public safety but also highlights the department’s dedication to serving the community promptly and effectively.
