Pune: Continuous heavy rainfall in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad over the past few days has led to dams nearing their full capacity, necessitating the release of large volumes of water.

This precaution has caused flood-like conditions in the riverside areas, resulting in extensive damage to properties. To address these issues and engage with the affected citizens, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is on a visit to Pune.

During his tour, he interacted with flood victims at the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Municipal School in the Sangvi area of Pimpri-Chinchwad, where citizens shared their grievances and received assurances of aid from the Chief Minister.

The consistent release of water from Pavana Dam, due to heavy rains in Pimpri, has elevated the water levels in local rivers, leading to waterlogging in homes along the Pavana, Mula, and Indrayani rivers and in low-lying areas.

On Sunday (August 4), the municipal corporation relocated around 1,000 residents from hazardous locations to shelter centers and relatives' homes.

The Chief Minister arrived at Pune Airport around 12:30 PM and proceeded to the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Municipal School in Old Sangvi to inspect the flood-affected areas and discuss with the victims.

Following this, he will visit Patil Estate in Shivajinagar, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Primary School, PMC Colony Wakdewadi, and other areas.
