Pune: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has initiated stringent actions against unauthorized schools in the city. FIR has been filed against two schools: Little Star English Medium School and Orchid International School, both operating without proper authorization.
In the first case, complaints have been lodged against J. D’Costa (resident of Bangalore) and Sameer Gorde (resident of Viman Nagar, Pune) from Orchid International School.
In the second case, Shreyakumar (resident of Chinchwadnagar, Chinchwad) from Little Star English Medium School has been named. Vilas Dayaram Patil (51, resident of Navi Sangvi) filed the complaints at Chinchwad Police Station on Monday (July 15).
According to the police, since April 2024, the accused individuals have been operating Little Star English Medium School and Orchid International School without adhering to any of the regulations and conditions set by the government.
They misled parents into believing that the schools were authorized, admitting students illegally and collecting fees. The complaints also state that the schools withheld students’ certificates and other educational documents, thereby deceiving the government, students, and parents.
Eleven Unauthorized Schools Identified
An inspection of schools in Pimpri-Chinchwad revealed that 11 institutions were operating without authorization. Some of these schools are reportedly linked to political leaders, raising questions about potential actions against them. However, the education department has now taken decisive steps to address this issue.
In Pune, Pimpri, and surrounding areas, 49 schools have been identified as operating without proper authorization. Pune Education Department had announced the list of unauthorized schools.
The list included Orchid International School, (Chinchwad), Orchid International School, (Undri, Tal. Haveli), Saplings English Medium School (Chinchwad Nagar, Pune 33), Little Star English Medium School (Chinchwad Nagar, Pune 33), Periwinkle English Medium School (Pirangut, Tal. Mulshi), Podar International School (Tathawade, Taluka Mulshi), Elpro International School (Hinjewadi, Tal. Mulshi), Delhi Public School (Hinjewadi, Tal. Mulshi), and others.
