Pune: In the ongoing investigation of the alleged assault on a 16-year-old girl by four individuals, the police have initiated a thorough technical analysis of the mobile phones of both the victim and the accused.
The sexual assault reportedly took place within the premises of a well-known city college.
The accused, Om Aadesh Gholap (20) and Swapnil Vilas Devkar (22), were presented in court as their police custody period ended, leading to an extension of their custody until October 3.
Public prosecutor Nitin Konghe highlighted the need for further investigation into whether the accused had circulated any obscene images or videos of the victim.
The Digital Video Recorder (DVR) from the CCTV system at the crime scene has already been seized, and experts are conducting a detailed technical analysis to uncover any relevant footage that could assist the investigation.
Police have made notable progress in the case. A forensic examination of the locations specified by the victim has been conducted, and DVR recordings from the vicinity have been secured for further review.
Statements have been collected from critical individuals, including the victim's close friend, the college’s trustees, the principal, and a counselor, all of whom may hold valuable information about the incident.
Furthermore, a medical examination of the victim has already been completed, adding crucial medical evidence to the case.
In addition to this, both the accused and a minor involved have undergone sexual competency tests at Sassoon Hospital to strengthen the investigation's findings.
