Coromandel International Ltd (CIL) has announced the appointment of S Sankarasubramanian as the company's new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective August 7, 2024.

Sankarasubramanian, who previously served as the Executive Director of Coromandel's Nutrient Business, will now lead the company as its top executive.

Sankarasubramanian brings a robust background in both finance and business management, having previously excelled in roles as Chief Financial Officer and Business Head.

A mathematics graduate from the University of Madras, he is also a member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India and an alumnus of the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School, which he completed in 2009.

His journey with the Murugappa Group began in 1993, where he initially joined E.I.D Parry (India) Limited in the Corporate Finance division. After rising through various positions, he transitioned to Coromandel International Limited in 2003.

As the head of the Nutrient segment at Coromandel, Sankarasubramanian played a pivotal role in solidifying the company’s industry position.

Under his leadership, the Nutrient division saw profitable growth and expanded into new product lines, including nanotechnology and drone spraying services, while also entering the mining sector.

In addition to his new role, Sankarasubramanian holds board positions with the Fertiliser Association of India, Tunisian Indian Fertiliser S.A., Tunisia, and Foskor (Pty) Ltd., South Africa, along with several subsidiaries of Coromandel International.
