Pune: A housewife from Undri narrowly escaped a significant financial loss due to her prompt action after being targeted in a credit card scam. The scammer, posing as a bank representative, tricked her into downloading an app and entering her credit card details, resulting in an unauthorized transaction of ₹60,991.

The incident occurred when a 39-year-old housewife from Undri filed a complaint at Kondhwa Police Station. She had an account with State Bank and had recently obtained a credit card from IndusInd Bank.

On July 3rd, she received a call from someone claiming to be from IndusInd Bank, inquiring about her new credit card and offering to increase its limit.

The caller convinced her to download an app supposedly required for paying credit card bills by searching for "IndusInd Services" on Google Chrome.

After entering her credit card details into the app, she received a message indicating a new device login attempt. Upon reading the message, she realized that a transaction of ₹60,991 had been made from her credit card to No Broker Techno.

She immediately contacted the bank, who advised her to file a complaint with the Cyber Crime Portal at 1930. Following her complaint, the police discovered that the money had been transferred to an account in Indian Bank.

The police instructed the bank to freeze the account, successfully recovering the stolen money. The housewife's prompt action prevented a significant financial loss.
