Dandiya Event Violence: Six Arrested in Connection with Machete Attack

Pune: The Bharti Vidyapeeth Police have arrested six individuals, including a habitual offender, in connection with a violent machete attack that took place during a dandiya event in Santosh Nagar, Katraj.

The assailants were apprehended following a swift police operation after they fled the scene of the crime.

The arrested individuals include Amit Deepak Chorge (27), a notorious criminal, and his accomplices Akshay Kisan Sawant (28), Ajay Kisan Ranjane (26), Prasad Dattatraya Ranjane (22), Siddhesh Shivaji Sansas (26), and Vijay Raghunath Ranjane (19), all residents of Ambegaon Khurd.

The victim of the attack, Arjun Dilip More (19), a resident of Vishwatmak Jangli Maharaj Trust, Mohili, Shahapur, Thane, sustained serious injuries in the incident.

According to the complaint filed by More at Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station, the incident occurred on the night of October 8, when More and his cousin had gone to attend a dandiya event at Santosh Nagar in Katraj.

During the event, Chorge and his associates arrived at the venue. Chorge had a history of disputes with certain individuals in the Santosh Nagar area, and the tensions escalated that night.

Witnesses reported that Chorge and his gang brandished machetes, causing widespread panic among attendees. As people scrambled to escape the scene, More and his cousin also tried to flee.

However, in the chaos, More tripped and fell. Taking advantage of the situation, Chorge and his accomplices launched a brutal attack on him with a machete, leaving him severely injured. The assailants then fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of terror.

Bharti Vidyapeeth Police officers Sagar Borge and Mitesh Chormale received information that the suspects were hiding in the Katraj Ghat area. Acting promptly, the police laid a trap and successfully apprehended the suspects.
