Pune: Severe monsoon floods at a Tadiwala Road warehouse caused extensive water damage, destroying the goods stored within. Raja Pardeshi, the businessman who owned the warehouse, incurred a significant loss of approximately ₹10 lakh as a result.

Following the incident, one of his creditors, Lakkadsingh, persistently demanded repayment, allegedly resorting to harassment and threats, including that of abducting Pardeshi’s son.

Unable to cope with the pressure, Pardeshi ultimately died by suicide on Saturday (November 23) afternoon at his residence in Kashewadi, Bhavani Peth.

The 44-year-old businessman, Raja Pardeshi, had been engaged in a business relationship with Lakkadsingh, who supplied him with pigs.

Pardeshi would process the meat and store it in his warehouse to fulfill customer orders as required.

The monsoon flooding, however, compromised the stored goods, causing an estimated ₹10 lakh in losses. Despite his attempts, Pardeshi was unable to recover financially from the loss.

According to the complaint filed by Pardeshi’s wife, Kanchan Pardeshi, at the Khadak Police Station, Lakkadsingh allegedly subjected her husband to intense harassment, making frequent and aggressive demands for repayment and reportedly threatening to harm the family.

This continuous mental stress allegedly drove Raja Pardeshi to end his life. Police Sub-Inspector Akash Vite is conducting a detailed investigation into the case, which has been registered against Lakkadsingh for alleged harassment.
