Pune: Actor Nana Patekar’s humorous and direct approach took center stage once again during the 9th-anniversary celebration of the Naam Foundation, an organization he co-founded.
Known for his candid nature, Nana didn’t shy away from light-hearted teasing when Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, made his entry at the event.
As Fadnavis arrived on stage, Nana warmly embraced him, immediately drawing attention to his appearance with the remark, “Hasn’t Devendra Fadnavis lost some weight? I’m serious, not joking.”
This simple statement had Fadnavis and the audience bursting into laughter. It was a light moment amidst an otherwise serious discussion about the foundation’s efforts and future plans.
During his speech, Nana reiterated the foundation's demand for the central government to fully implement the Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations, which focus on ensuring fair prices for farmers.
Nana emphasized that the event was not political but focused on the welfare of farmers and rural communities. He joked that Fadnavis wouldn’t leave without having a meal, adding a personal touch to the interaction, which further endeared the actor to the crowd.
In response, Devendra Fadnavis spoke fondly of Nana Patekar, referring to him as an elder brother. Fadnavis shared a personal anecdote, revealing how Nana had once advised him to tone down his fiery speeches to avoid unnecessary stress.
"Nana is the reason I’ve adopted a calmer style of speaking," Fadnavis admitted, acknowledging the actor's influence on his public speaking approach.
The event, which was filled with camaraderie, highlighted the close relationship between the two public figures while also focusing on the Naam Foundation’s mission to support farmers and rural development.
