Pune: A man in Pune’s Dhanori area has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife by striking her on the head with a gas cylinder.
The incident, which occurred at midnight in the Munjaba Vasti neighborhood of Vishrantwadi, shocked the local community. The victim, identified as 47-year-old Madhuri Manohar More, died on the spot from her injuries.
According to police reports, Madhuri had been subjected to ongoing harassment from her husband, Manohar More, who had become increasingly suspicious of her character over the past few months. This had led to frequent arguments and physical abuse.
On the night of the incident, another argument broke out, during which Manohar, in a fit of anger, grabbed a gas cylinder from the kitchen and struck Madhuri on the head. The blow proved fatal, and she collapsed in a pool of blood.
The incident was discovered on Monday morning, and local police were immediately notified. Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav and Senior Police Inspector Kanchan Jadhav arrived at the scene and began the investigation.
Madhuri’s body was sent to Sassoon Hospital for a postmortem, and her husband Manohar was arrested shortly after. Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
Earlier in another incident reported from Yerawada area of Pune, a woman was stabbed by her husband during an argument about preparing a chili chutney (kharda) for dinner.
The Yerawada police have registered a case against the husband, identified as Pankaj Machhindranath Pacharne, a 43-year-old rickshaw driver. The victim, Supriya Pankaj Pacharne, aged 40, sustained injuries near her left eye during the altercation.
