Dialysis Rate-Fixing Report Stuck in Red Tape

The Sajag Nagrik Manch has demanded an early decision on the report on the rate submitted to Rajendra Bhosale.

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) provides dialysis facility to the people belonging to the economically weaker sections. But the cost of this treatment varies from hospital to hospital.

The report prepared by the PMC to bring consistency in rates is stuck in red tape. The Sajag Nagrik Manch has demanded an early decision on the report on the rate gone to Rajendra Bhosale.

Eight dialysis centres and 37 private hospitals on the panel of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) are providing dialysis under the Urban Poor Medical Assistance Scheme, contributory medical assistance scheme for municipal grandparents, former members, retired employees and working employees.

However, the rate of dialysis treatment is different in all these places. In eight places where the civic body has this facility, the rates range from Rs 400 to Rs 2,300, while in private hospitals, the same rates range from Rs 1,350 to Rs 2,900.

The health department formed a committee with the then additional commissioner to streamline the dialysis rates and fix the rates.

The committee recommended a maximum dialysis rate of Rs 1,130 in the municipal joint project and a maximum of Rs 1,350 in the hospitals on the panel.

The proposal was sent to the additional commissioner for approval on March 14, 2024. However, he insisted that a decision be taken after the Lok Sabha elections. Even after the assembly elections, no decision has been taken on it. This is affecting the people," said Vivek Velankar.
