Pune: The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) in Pune organized a one-day symposium titled "Management and Growth of New Emerging Technologies (MAGNET-2024)" on September 19, 2024.
The event, spearheaded by the Department of Technology Management, brought together distinguished guests, experts, and participants to discuss the future of emerging technologies and their management in India.
The symposium was inaugurated with an address by Chief Guest Dr. Prahlada Ramarao, Padmashree Awardee and former Vice Chancellor of DIAT. Prof. Prateek Kishore, Director General of Armament & Combat Engineering (ACE), delivered the keynote speech, emphasizing the critical role of innovation and technology management in defense. Rear Admiral Nelson D’Souza, Commandant of MILIT, was present as a Guest of Honor, alongside prominent speakers from the defense industry and academia.
The core theme of the symposium revolved around the importance of combining technology and management skills to drive growth and innovation, particularly in the defense sector.
Over 100 participants, including industry experts, DRDO scientists, and officers from MILIT, attended the event to explore the latest advancements in technology management and their practical applications.
A highlight of the event was a panel discussion titled “The Role of Technology Management in Shaping Modern India,” featuring representatives from industry, academia, and DRDO.
The panelists discussed strategies to bridge the existing gaps in the technological landscape, aligning with India's "Atmanirbhar Bharat" (self-reliant India) mission.
Dr. B.H.V.S. Narayana Murthy, Vice Chancellor of DIAT, praised the organizing committee and acknowledged the significant contributions made by DRDO Labs to the success of the symposium.
The event served as a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and exploring innovative pathways for technology management in the defense ecosystem.
