Pune: In preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections, the Pune district administration has taken steps to address the issue of long queues witnessed at some polling stations during the previous Lok Sabha elections.

District Collector Dr. Suhas Divase announced various initiatives aimed at minimizing voter waiting times. Among the key measures, polling rooms will now admit four to five voters at a time to expedite the process.

Additionally, in polling centers with multiple rooms, an effort will be made to distribute voters evenly across the rooms to prevent overcrowding in any single room.

Dr. Divase shared these updates during a press conference at the District Collector’s office, where Rural Police Superintendent Pankaj Deshmukh was also present.

The Collector highlighted the importance of voters verifying their names on the electoral roll and ensuring they are registered before the upcoming election.

Voter registration will remain open until October 19, and Dr. Divase encouraged voters to confirm their eligibility and register in time if necessary.
