Diwali Cultural Programs to Promote Voter Awareness in Pimpri-Chinchwad
Pune: A comprehensive plan has been implemented to increase voter turnout in the Pimpri, Chinchwad, and Bhosari assembly constituencies, with targeted efforts to improve urban voter participation.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, under the leadership of Additional Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate, has launched a series of voter awareness initiatives as part of its SVEEP (Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation) campaign.
In a review meeting held at the corporation's administrative headquarters, officials discussed strategies to drive voter awareness across various urban areas.
The meeting was chaired by Additional Commissioner Khorate and attended by key municipal officers, including Deputy Commissioner Anna Bodade, Assistant Commissioners, health officials, and social workers.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that awareness campaigns would be conducted at multiple public locations, including prominent city squares, parks, colleges, shopping malls, and residential societies, among others.
Diwali Cultural Programs to Be Utilized for Voter Awareness:
With Diwali celebrations approaching, the municipal corporation plans to leverage large-scale cultural programs like "Diwali Pahat" to reach a broad audience.
These events, which draw significant public participation, will serve as platforms for voter awareness. Additionally, street plays will be performed at crowded locations in the city to further promote the importance of voting.
Various media channels such as social media, radio, hoardings, and public display boards (VMDs) will be used to ensure the message reaches all sections of society.
In an effort to provide easy access to polling-related information, the corporation has launched “Know Your Voting Center” helplines at all regional offices.
These helplines will assist voters in locating their designated polling stations. In the last general election, voter participation in Pimpri, Chinchwad, and Bhosari was below the state and national averages.
The SVEEP cell, established under the guidance of Additional Commissioner Khorate, will lead these initiatives.
