Pune: Dr. Vinayak Vishwanath, widely known as Udaysingh Peshwa, the ninth descendant of the esteemed Peshwa dynasty and senior trustee of the Shri Devdeveshwar Sansthan, has passed away at the age of 86 due to age-related ailments.

His funeral rites were conducted late at Tuesday (August 27) night at the Vaikunth crematorium.

Dr. Peshwa is survived by his wife, Jayamangalaraje Peshwa, one son, and two daughters. He had been a devoted trustee of the Shri Devdeveshwar Sansthan for the past 57 years.

An accomplished geologist, Dr. Peshwa completed his advanced studies in geology in Holland before returning to Pune after earning his Ph.D.

During his distinguished career, Dr. Peshwa served as the head of the Geology Department at Savitribai Phule Pune University, where he made significant contributions to the study of groundwater resources and the broader field of geology.

His research took him across India, where he explored various geological phenomena and developments. Alongside his academic pursuits, he was actively involved in the management of the Shri Devdeveshwar Sansthan, dedicating his life to preserving the legacy and reputation of the Peshwa family.
