Pune: In a bid to ensure security during the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Sohala, the use of drone cameras for private filming has been banned.
Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar announced on Saturday, June 29, that individuals must obtain police permission to film using drones. Unauthorized filming will result in legal action.
Many people use drone cameras to capture the event, but the misuse of drones is a potential concern. To prevent any possible misuse, police have prohibited drone filming without prior authorization.
The revered Palkhi processions of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj are set to arrive in Pune on Sunday, June 30. This year marks the 193rd edition of these historic processions.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj's Palkhi will enter Pune from Pimpri Chinchwad on Sunday afternoon. Both Palkhis will converge at Patil Estate and proceed together to their halting points.
The route will include COEP Chowk, Sancheti Chowk, IMD Chowk, Veer Chapekar Chowk, Dnyaneshwar Paduka Chowk, Tukaram Paduka Chowk, Gokhale Chowk (Goodluck), Khanduji Baba Chowk, Tilak Chowk, Laxmi Road, Vijay Cinema Chowk, Sevasadan Chowk, Belbaug Chowk, Budhwar Chowk, Pasodya Vithoba Temple, Moti Chowk, Sonya Maruti Chowk, Hamjekhan Chowk, Dulya Maruti Chowk, Nana Peth Police Station.
Permission Process
To film with a drone, individuals must apply for permission at the local police station. The police will review the applications and decide whether to grant approval. This directive for drone filming permission will be in effect until July 3.
"Given the potential for sabotage and misuse of drone cameras, unauthorized drone filming will lead to legal consequences," stated Commissioner Kumar.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj's Palkhi will be stationed at the Shri Nivdunga Vitthal Temple in Nana Peth, passing through Aruna Chowk. Meanwhile, Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj's Palkhi will be housed at the Shri Palkhi Vitthal Temple in Bhavani Peth, via Ashoka Chowk. Due to these halts, traffic arrangements in the Nana Peth and Bhavani Peth areas will be adjusted accordingly.
