Pune City Police Commissionerate, overseeing 11 assembly constituencies, has implemented a series of regulations to ensure peaceful and orderly elections.
Additional Police Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma issued these orders to enforce the Model Code of Conduct effectively. The constituencies under this jurisdiction include Shirur, Purandar, Bhor, Wadgaon Sheri, Shivajinagar, Kothrud, Khadakwasla, Parvati, Hadapsar, Pune Cantonment, and Kasba.
In anticipation of the upcoming elections, the police have set specific rules aimed at preventing any law and order disruptions. Organizers of public meetings must obtain prior permission from relevant police authorities regarding the location and time of events. Similarly, any processions require prior approval from the local police station officers.
The use of loudspeakers is heavily regulated. Their use is prohibited between 10 PM and 6 AM, and they cannot be used from moving vehicles—only when stationary.
All loudspeaker operators must carry the necessary permits and strictly adhere to the noise limits established by the authorities. Furthermore, loudspeakers are not allowed near schools, colleges, and hospitals.
During the election campaign period, convoys are restricted to a maximum of 10 vehicles at a time, and there must be a gap of 200 meters or 15 minutes between two convoys.
Police officers are authorized to monitor and control the behavior of individuals participating in processions, ensuring they follow the designated routes and times.
The police will also regulate the use of loudspeakers during public or entertainment events, including their intensity and timing.
The officers will oversee public meetings conducted for campaign purposes, including determining the venue, date, and time for such gatherings. These measures are effective immediately and will remain in place until November 25.
