Pune: Income Tax Department has initiated a proactive campaign to prevent the misuse of funds by candidates during the assembly election period. The Pune office of the department has established a control room to monitor illegal activities related to election spending.

This campaign aims to ensure that the upcoming elections are conducted in a fair and transparent manner. To facilitate the reporting of financial irregularities during the elections, the Income Tax Department has set up toll-free numbers—18002330353 and 18002330354—through which citizens can file complaints.
In addition to the toll-free numbers, citizens can also send complaints via WhatsApp by sharing messages, videos, or photos on the mobile number 9421546484.
Residents of Pune, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Ahilyadevinagar, Solapur, Satara, Sangli, Sindhudurg, and Kolhapur are eligible to use these services. Complaints can also be submitted through email or post to the Income Tax Department.
The Election Commission of India announced on October 16 that the Maharashtra Assembly elections will take place in a single phase for all 288 constituencies on November 20, while Jharkhand will conduct its elections in two phases on November 13 and November 20.
The counting of votes in both states will be held on November 23. Following the announcement of election dates, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect in both states.
