Pune: In a significant move aimed at understanding the employment challenges faced by the city’s youth, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, in collaboration with the Lighthouse Communities Foundation, will conduct an employment survey under the Chief Minister's Youth Work Training Scheme.

This survey is set to cover a wide range of city areas, including slums, low-income groups, and village settlements, with the help of 241 appointed field survey enumerators.

As part of the initiative, the Social Development Department has already appointed 176 individuals as enumerators, with 66 of them having commenced work. These field workers will conduct in-depth surveys to capture the aspirations, challenges, and educational backgrounds of young people aged between 18 and 40.

This comprehensive employment survey aims to gather key insights into the employment landscape, which will then inform decisions related to skill development and job creation policies.

The data will provide the Municipal Corporation with a clear understanding of local needs, helping to develop programs that are aligned with the real-world challenges faced by the youth.

The Chief Minister’s Youth Work Training Scheme, introduced by the Maharashtra Government, is designed to enhance the employability of the state's youth.

The program provides practical training for those who have completed their 12th grade, ITI, diploma, degree, or postgraduate education and are seeking jobs. These candidates will receive a six-month stipend directly into their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
