Pune: Election officials across Pune will be verifying the draft voter list at all polling stations today and tomorrow. Deputy Collector Meenal Kalaskar has called on voters to ensure their names are correctly listed.
The Election Commission of India has published the draft list as part of its special brief revision program, and citizens can submit claims and objections today, Sunday, August 11, and during upcoming special drives on August 17 and 18.
Voters are encouraged to check if their names are included in the draft list. If their names are missing or require corrections, claims and objections can be submitted to the polling station-level officers.
The Voter Helpline app or the website https://voters.eci.gov.in/ can be used to submit these claims and objections.
A campaign is also underway in the district to remove the names of deceased voters, and Kalaskar has appealed for active cooperation from the relatives of the deceased and representatives of political parties.
The final voter list is scheduled for release on August 30. Voters will have the opportunity to register until ten days before the nomination period for the assembly elections.
In Pune city, comprising eight assembly constituencies, Hadapsar is the largest, with a voter count of 590,911. Chinchwad leads as the largest constituency in the district with 627,437 registered voters, while Kasba Peth is the smallest with 278,606 voters.
The voter population in the district has increased by 312,710 since the last Lok Sabha elections, attributed to various initiatives by the district election administration.
