Pune: The electric vehicles (EV) industry is expecting the central government announce FAME 3 scheme with a clear roadmap for the next 3 to 5 years. Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Founder and CEO of Kinetic Green says government should support the development of charging infrastructure in key corridors of 10-15 major cities and surrounding highways.

"To meet the ambitious target of increasing EV penetration from the current 6% to 30% by 2030, substantial additional measures are required. We are anticipating the announcement of FAME 3 in the upcoming Budget to sustain and accelerate EV demand, especially since the current scheme is set to end on July 31.

The industry urgently calls for the continuation of the FAME scheme with a clear roadmap for the next 3 to 5 years. Furthermore, we request support for the development of charging infrastructure in key corridors of 10-15 major cities and surrounding highways. This will be pivotal in promoting the use of electric four-wheelers (e4W) and commercial vehicles (CVs) across India," she said.

"In addition, GST reforms have been an ask from the EV sector, specifically reduction of GST on lithium-ion batteries to 5% (from the current rate of 18%) and the lowering of GST on EV charging services to 5%. These changes will significantly enhance the affordability and overall ownership experience of EVs for customers.

The combined impact of these measures will be instrumental in achieving the critical mass necessary for meeting the GoI's 2030 EV target of 30% EV and creating a sustainable EV ecosystem in India," Sulajja Firodia Motwani added.

Sonali Chowdhry, CEO Officenet says, "Our expectations center around transforming India into a global manufacturing powerhouse. This ambition hinges on the government’s focus on boosting automation and digitalization within the sector.

We anticipate policies and interventions that will encourage the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, including advanced Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS). Government support in facilitating the adoption of these technologies is crucial, as it will not only improve productivity but also ensure the sector's global competitiveness.

We look forward to initiatives that propel the manufacturing industry towards a new era of growth and sustainability, making India a formidable player on the world stage."

Srinivasa Addepalli, Founder and CEO, GlobalGyan Leadership Academy says, "We see a critical opportunity to address India's skill gap through strategic initiatives. Government support in incentivizing internships and apprenticeships will be pivotal in equipping our workforce with practical experience and readiness for employment upon graduation.

Continuous learning and upskilling are imperative for professionals to navigate evolving market dynamics and technological advancements. Encouraging investments in skill certifications and leadership development programs through tax relief measures can significantly boost individual and enterprise readiness for future challenges."
