Extortion Threat Sent to Prominent Pune Jeweler; Crime Branch Launches Probe

Pune: A prominent jeweler in Pune has been threatened with extortion for ten crore rupees in an email sent in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The Pune Crime Branch has launched an investigation following the complaint. This incident has raised alarms as the gang had gained notoriety recently after the murder of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddiqui.

According to officials, the email, discovered on Saturday (October 19), warned the jeweler of consequences similar to those faced by Siddiqui if the demanded amount was not paid.

The email read, “If ten crore rupees are not paid to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, you will face the same fate as Baba Siddiqui. We will send another email with details on when and how to pay the amount.”

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, led by Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently incarcerated in Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat, has been linked to several extortion cases involving businessmen in Delhi and Chandigarh. In the murder case of Siddiqui, the Mumbai Crime Branch has already arrested nine individuals.

The Crime Branch officials have confirmed the email and are collaborating with the Cyber Crime Branch to trace its origin. Investigators suspect that the sender of the email may be located within the Pune city area. Authorities are focusing their efforts on identifying the suspect.

This isn't the first time the Bishnoi gang has been involved in such activities. Previously, they were held responsible for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

Following this, another businessman in Pune had also received extortion threats in the name of the gang. Some jeweler's in Pune have branches nationwide and internationally, increasing the urgency and scale of the investigation.
