Pune: A shocking video of young boys consuming drugs in the bathroom of Liquid Leisure Lounge on FC Road in Pune has led to police action and the arrest of two individuals. The incident has prompted widespread concern and demands for stricter anti-drugs enforcement.
Police teams have intensified their presence around the hotel, resulting in the arrest of the hotel's manager and an employee. The Shivajinagar police station, located nearby, is currently interrogating the suspects to determine who organized the party, who supplied the drugs, and who the drug peddlers were.
Authorities suspect that the hotel manager might have known about the drug supplier. As a result, the Crime Branch of the Pune Police is conducting a thorough investigation. All hotel staff are being questioned as part of the inquiry. The party was organized by one Akshay Kamthe and attended by around 50 individuals.
The Excise Department, which has faced criticism from the opposition in recent times, is expected to play a key role in the investigation. Charansingh Rajput from the State Excise Department has arrived at the scene to assist in the probe.
The revelation of this drug incident has put the administration on high alert. Questions are being raised about how the hotel remained operational until dawn, even after the Porsche incident. Various agencies have now reached the FC Road hotel. Despite previous high-profile drug cases, such as the Lalit Patil case, Pune continues to struggle with drug-related issues, highlighted by this latest incident.
MP Murlidhar Mohol discussed the issue with Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar after the video emerged. CCTV footage from the hotel has been seized, and disciplinary action will be taken against the patrolling police officers, according to Commissioner Kumar. A forensic team has also arrived at the hotel to assist in the investigation.
"Besides action against the hotel owner and manager, the critical question is how the hotel remained open until 5 AM. The responsible police officers should be suspended. Such incidents tarnishing Pune's image will not be tolerated," said Mohol.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also commented on the incident, stating, "We will take strict action wherever drugs are found. Our goal is to make Maharashtra drug-free."
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare and Congress MLA Ravindra Dhangekar criticized the police and administration and have questioned "Who is responsible for the growing drug problem in Pune?"
