Pune: Aaron D'Souza, an alumnus of Fergusson College's Media and Communication Department (B. Voc), has earned a prestigious nomination for his short film "Carolyn" at the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA). The film has been selected in the "BAFTA Student Awards" short film category.
Originally from Los Angeles but raised in Pune, Aaron D'Souza has had a passion for watching films and short films since childhood. This interest led him to enroll in the Media and Communication Department at Fergusson College. After completing his degree, he pursued a postgraduate course in film editing at the American Film Institute.
As part of this course, Aaron and his colleagues created the short film "Carolyn," with Aaron handling the editing. These student-produced short films are sent to film festivals worldwide, and "Carolyn" was no exception.
The film's submission led to its selection in the esteemed BAFTA's student division. Out of 800 short films from 37 countries, 79 were chosen for the final competition. 'Carolyn' will now compete in the "Live Action" category, with the winners set to be announced on July 12.
After learning about the BAFTA nomination, Aaron expressed his gratitude, saying, "All the hard work has paid off. I owe this success to my family, teachers, and colleagues."
