Pimpri: In a heart-wrenching incident in Alandi, a woman burdened by her family’s financial difficulties attempted to end her life by entering the Indrayani River.
The 40-year-old woman, whose family had been struggling with severe debt, waded into the river, sitting quietly while waiting for the water current to sweep her away. The incident occurred late in the evening between 8 to 9 PM.
Local citizens, along with members of a wildlife rescue organization, noticed the woman sitting in the river and immediately rushed to her aid. Without hesitation, they pulled her out of the water, saving her life before any harm could come her way.
Upon being rescued, the Alandi police were informed, and the woman was brought to the police station.
Officers counseled her and reached out to her family, explaining the gravity of the situation and providing guidance on how to cope with their financial struggles.
It was revealed that the woman’s desperation stemmed from the crushing burden of debt her family faced, which had driven her to contemplate suicide.
This incident is part of a concerning trend in Alandi, where the number of suicide attempts in the Indrayani River has been on the rise, particularly among women and young girls.
Authorities and local organizations are urging residents to seek help and support in times of financial or emotional distress.
