Fire breaks out on 2.5 acres in Anandwadi
Narayangaon: A fire broke out in a sugarcane field on 2.5 acres of ananta mule in Anandwadi (Taluka Junnar) and drip irrigation pipes were also burnt. The loss was around Rs 5 lakh.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. On two occasions in the past too, sugarcane crop on 2.5 acres of land in the same area was burnt.
Mule suspected that the cane caught fire after the cane was harvested and lodged a complaint at Narayangaon police station. Likewise he demanded that the police find out the cause of the fire and take action.
This is the third incident of damage to a standing crop of sugarcane in Narayangaon area since November 1.
Earlier, a fire broke out in the sugarcane field of Dr. Anand Kulkarni's two-acre area here and caused a loss of about Rs 5 lakh, while the standing crop of sugarcane in about one acre of land was burnt in the sugarcane field of Prasad Darekar of Belwate Mala Shivar in Gunjalwadi.
Loss of Rs 13 lakh on Diwali
In four days, three farmers' sugarcane crop was gutted in a fire that had been harvested on about five and a half acres. As a result, these farmers have suffered a loss of around Rs 13 lakh during Diwali.
Farmers have suffered a huge financial loss due to the loss of sugarcane, which has been grown and harvested for the last one-and-a-half years. The factory's fall season has not yet begun. This raises the question of what to do with the burnt sugarcane.
