Pune: In a swift and successful operation, firefighters from the Kasba Fire Station rescued a young man who had fallen into the riverbed near the Municipal Corporation building around midnight.

The incident was reported to the fire brigade control room, which then alerted the Kasba Fire Station about a person who had fallen into the river near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Bridge. Immediately, a rescue vehicle was dispatched to the location.

Upon arrival, the firefighters discovered a young man trapped in the river’s strong water currents. Utilizing ropes and life jackets, they managed to rescue him safely within five minutes.

Lifeguard Raju Kachi played a crucial role in assisting with the rescue operation. The man, identified as Somnath Nishad from Uttar Pradesh, was brought to safety. Authorities are still investigating how he ended up in the river.

The team responsible for the rescue included Santosh Chaure, the driver of the fire brigade vehicle, along with firefighters Harish Bunde, Raju Jagdale, Dnyaneshwar Gaikwad, Rajendra Mahadik, Atish Naiknavare, and Sunny Lokhande, who all played vital roles in ensuring the young man’s safety.

In September, a 45-year-old man who had jumped into the Pavana River from Jadhav Ghat in Walhekarwadi, Chinchwad, was safely rescued after emerging from the water on his own.

The man, identified as Abasaheb Keshav Pawar, had eluded search teams for hours after hiding in the dense bushes along the riverbank.
