Pune: A food poisoning incident occurred at D.Y. Patil School in Shahunagar, affecting 26 students who were served bread and chutney during a food festival organized as part of Navratri celebrations.
The students, aged between 10 and 14, began experiencing symptoms such as stomach pain, vomiting, and dizziness shortly after consuming the food at around 9 a.m.
The school administration promptly contacted a private hospital, and ambulances were arranged to transport the affected students for treatment.
A total of 26 students were admitted to the hospital, where they received immediate medical care. Doctors confirmed that the food poisoning was caused by the bread and chutney served at the school. Fortunately, all the students are now in stable condition.
The school informed the parents of the students as soon as the incident occurred. Concerned and distressed, many parents rushed to the hospital to check on their children.
Several parents accused the school of serving low-quality food, which they believed was the cause of the food poisoning. In response, the hospital administration questioned the school authorities, and an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
Abhay Kotkar, President of D.Y. Patil School, expressed regret over the incident, stating, "The school administration takes full responsibility for covering the medical expenses of the affected students.
We deeply regret the incident and will ensure that strict legal action is taken against those responsible for serving poor-quality food to the children."
