Pune: A minor girl was forcibly married off to a 27-year-old man by her parents, despite being just 17 years and five months old. The girl's pregnancy led to the exposure of the crime, prompting police to register a case against her parents and in-laws.
Assistant Police Inspector Vaishali Bhosale of the Sinhagad Road police station has filed a complaint in this regard.
According to the complaint, a case has been registered against the girl's parents and in-laws under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act.
The girl was 17 years and five months old at the time of marriage. She was married off to a 27-year-old man. After the girl became pregnant, doctors informed the police, leading to the registration of the case.
Minor Girl Molested by shopkeeper
A 55-year-old shopkeeper allegedly molested a 13-year-old minor girl in Lohegaon area. The girl's mother filed a complaint at the Airport Police Station, leading to the registration of a case against the accused.
According to the complaint, the girl was playing in the society's compound when the shopkeeper, Naresh Naik, looked at her with bad intentions and made gestures towards her. The police have booked Naik under relevant sections of the law.
Police Sub-Inspector Chaudhari is investigating the case and has assured that strict action will be taken against the accused if found guilty.
