Four-Year-Old Drowns in Well While Trying to Catch Fish in Indapur

Pune: A heartbreaking incident occurred in Rangav, Indapur Taluka, where a four-and-a-half-year-old boy named Rudra Mahadev Jadhav drowned after jumping into a well near his home.

Rudra had been learning to swim in the well with his six-year-old sister Akshada under the guidance of their father, Mahadev Jadhav, over the past week.

On Saturday (August 31), Mahadev Jadhav left the children near the house and went to a nearby toilet. During this time, Rudra and Akshada went near the well.

As there was a fish in the well, Rudra jumped in to catch it, which led to him drowning. His body was recovered from the well after the water was drained around 4:30 PM.

Shahaji Ananta Jadhav, age 38, a resident of Rangav, reported the incident to the Walchandnagar police station.

The police have registered a case of accidental death, and further investigation is being conducted by Gulab Patil under the guidance of Assistant Police Inspector Vikram Salunkhe of Walchandnagar Police Station.

Recently, a 13-year-old boy drowned while swimming in a water-filled quarry at the Urban Forest Park, developed by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests, on Ramnagar Ganpati Matha Hill in Warje in Pune.

The deceased had been identified as Daksh Sushant Kamble, a resident of Ramnagar in Warje. According to local reports, Daksh and three other boys, all aged between 13 and 14, ventured to the park on August 15 afternoon. The group decided to swim in the rainwater-filled quarry. During the swim, Daksh tragically lost his life as he drowned in the water.
