Fugitive Arrested in Kondhwa Auto Driver Assault and Robbery Case

The case dates back to July 4, when Allauddin Mohammad Hanif Siddiqui (39), a rickshaw driver, lodged a complaint at the Kondhwa Police Station.

In Pune's Kondhwa area, an auto-rickshaw driver was assaulted and robbed in July by four individuals who chased him down, fractured his leg, and stole cash from him.

In a recent development, a team from the Crime Branch’s Unit 6 has successfully arrested one of the accused, Mohit Ravi Shelar (19), who had been absconding since the incident.

The case dates back to July 4, when Allauddin Mohammad Hanif Siddiqui (39), a rickshaw driver, lodged a complaint at the Kondhwa Police Station.

Siddiqui recounted that on the night of July 4, around 10:30 p.m., he was driving home when four men on two motorcycles began following him. The assailants caught up with him at Inamdar Nagar and forced him to stop.

They then forcibly extracted ₹9,000 from his pocket. During the assault, Siddiqui was kicked in the stomach, causing him to fall. The attackers continued their assault by throwing stones at him and hitting him, injuring his leg, stomach, and arm. The violent assault resulted in fractures to his leg and wrist.

The arrest was made by Unit 6 of the Crime Branch during a routine election-related patrol. Assistant Police Inspector Kamble, along with officers Mundhe, Sakate, and Karkhile, received information about the accused’s location.

Acting on this tip, the team reached Sai Mandir Chowk in Kalepadal and detained Shelar.

Following a medical examination, the accused was transferred to the custody of Kondhwa Police Station, as confirmed by Police Inspector Wahid Pathan.
