Pune: Siddhant Patil, a young man from Pune, has been missing for six days in the United States after slipping and falling into a river while on a trek.
The incident, which has left his family in deep distress, occurred when Patil was washing his face and accidentally fell into the river. Despite efforts, his body has not been found, raising concerns among his loved ones.
Siddhant Vithal Patil is working with Cadence Design System in San Jose. Patil, originally from Jalgaon, moved with his family to Pimple Nilakh, Pune. He is the only child of his parents and had traveled to the U.S. in 2021 for further studies.
On Saturday, July 6, Patil went trekking with friends when the accident occurred. Friends who witnessed the incident immediately informed his parents about the tragic fall.
The family has appealed for swift action, with senior political leaders Sharad Pawar, Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar writing letters urging an expedited search for Patil.
The parents have accused American authorities of delaying the search and have sought intervention from higher authorities in India.
