Pune is ready to celebrate Anant Chaturdashi today, with the immersion processions of its most esteemed Ganpati idols set to begin shortly. The day marks the end of the 10-day Ganesh festival, as thousands of devotees prepare to bid farewell to Lord Ganesha with grand processions across the city.

The immersion procession officially commences at 10:30 AM, following a long-standing tradition. Dignitaries will offer floral tributes to the statue of Lokmanya Tilak at Mahatma Phule Mandai, where the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations first began under his guidance.

From here, the immersion processions will proceed, led by Pune’s five most honored Ganpati Mandals, including the famous Kasba Ganpati, along Laxmi Road.

These revered idols will move towards their final immersion points via prominent routes including Laxmi Road, Kelkar, Kumthekar, Tilak, and Karve Road.

The iconic Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandal, known for its elaborate decorations and massive following, will begin its procession at 4 PM. This is one of the highlights of the day, drawing large crowds of devotees and onlookers.

The city has made extensive preparations for the event. Dhol-tasha troupes, musical bands, and various cultural organizations are all set to participate in the processions.

Pune’s police administration has deployed a force of 6,500 personnel to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the event. "Damini" marshal teams have been set up to specifically focus on women’s safety during the large gatherings. Medical services are also on high alert to handle any emergencies.

The police have implemented tight security measures across key areas of the city to maintain law and order during the festivities. Traffic diversions and crowd management plans have been put into place as large numbers of devotees and spectators are expected to gather throughout the day.

As the city prepares for an emotional and vibrant farewell to Lord Ganesha, all eyes are set on the grand processions that will fill Pune’s streets with music, dance, and devotion, reflecting the city’s deep connection to its cultural and religious heritage.
