Pune Municipal Corporation has put in place elaborate preparations to ensure the safety of devotees during the upcoming Ganesh Visarjan.

Key immersion ghats have been secured with essential safety measures, while fire brigade personnel and lifeguards are stationed at all ghats.

Key immersion ghats:

  • Sangam Ghat

  • Omkareshwar Ghat

  • Vruddheshwar/Siddheshwar Ghat

  • Pulachi Wadi, behind Natraj Cinema

  • Ashtabhuja Temple (Narayan Peth)

  • Khandujibaba Chowk

  • Bapughat (Narayan Peth), behind Garware College

  • Vitthal Temple (Alka Chowk)

  • Dattawadi Ghat

  • Thosarpaga Ghat

  • Aundhgaon Ghat

  • Rajaram Bridge Ghat

  • Siddheshwar Temple

  • Bundgarden Ghat

  • Chima Udyan Yerawada

  • Panchaleshwar Ghat, Warje Karvenagar

Safety at Immersion Ghats:

  • Fire brigade personnel and lifeguards stationed at the ghats.

  • Life jackets and fluorescent jackets available for safety.

  • A horizontal rope placed along the riverbanks.

  • "Life Mast" equipment installed at Natraj Ghat to rescue drowning individuals at night.

  • Firefighters and lifeguards will remain vigilant until the immersion procession ends.

PMC Preparations:

  • Necessary facilities for the immersion procession are ready.

  • Clean water in immersion tanks and iron tanks at the ghats.

  • Adequate electricity and sound systems on the immersion routes and ghats.

  • Waste management arrangements, including Nirmalya (offering) kalash and containers.

  • Public toilets set up in various locations, with mobile toilets near immersion routes.

  • Seating arrangements for citizens at the ghats.

  • Public announcements and instructions to be made by Civil Defense volunteers using sound systems installed at ghats.

  • Dedicated “Hirakani Room” (women’s help desks) for women.

Ward Office Preparations:

  • Obstacles along the immersion procession route have been removed.

  • Immersion tanks installed at schools, government colonies, and public spaces.

  • Officers and staff stationed to ensure devotees do not face difficulties.

  • Pavilions and watchtowers for police and municipal officers and staff.

  • Help centers for devotees, and special teams appointed for cleanliness.

  • Senior officers will monitor the situation.

Appeal:

  • Citizens are advised not to enter the river.

  • Immersion should be done by the firefighters and Bhoi community members stationed along the banks.

  • Keep children away from rivers, canals, wells, and ponds.

  • Do not overload boats during immersion.

  • Immersion should be done by the lifeguards appointed by the Municipal Corporation.

  • Take precautions as riverbanks are slippery due to rain.

Prohibited actions:

  • Immersing idols in rivers or lakes is not allowed.

  • Immersions should be done in tanks or idols can be donated.

  • The Municipal Corporation has made arrangements to collect idols at ghats as part of the idol donation initiative.

  • Dispose of offerings in designated Nirmalya kalash or hand them over to staff.
