Pune: A dramatic rescue unfolded near Bhosle Vasti on the D.Y. Patil Road in Charholi when a car carrying a father and son was swept away by the strong current of a stream merging into the Indrayani River.
The father, Rajesh Kohli, a cancer patient from Haridwar, and his son, Tushar, were on their way to Indrayani Hospital in Alandi for treatment when the incident occurred.
Thanks to the quick thinking and bravery of local social worker Yogesh Bhosale, both were saved from a potentially fatal situation.
Rajesh Kohli, who lives in Haridwar, was diagnosed with cancer and had an appointment at Indrayani Hospital on Thursday, the 25th. As they traveled by car from Haridwar to Alandi, they encountered deep water on D.Y. Patil Road near Bhosle Vasti. The car was caught in the current and began to be carried away by the stream.
Yogesh Bhosale, a local social worker, noticed the situation and immediately rushed to help, cutting through the stream's flow to reach the car. Despite the large crowd gathered at the scene, no one else dared to assist due to the strong current.
The stream, which eventually flows into the Indrayani River, has a ten to twenty-foot deep drop just ahead. If the Kohli's car had gone further, it would have been almost impossible to save them.
Additionally, the car could have locked if it went into deeper water, making the rescue even more difficult. Understanding the imminent danger, Bhosale bravely waded through the water towards the car.
Fortunately, the car got stuck on a submerged bridge that Bhosale had built for commuting. As Rajesh Kohli was being helped out of the car, he was almost swept away by the current, but Bhosale held onto him tightly and managed to pull him out to safety.
After the rescue, Bhosale extended his hospitality to the Kohli family at his home, leaving Rajesh and Tushar deeply grateful for his life-saving efforts. Following this incident, the road was closed to prevent further accidents.
