Pune: Hinjewadi police have booked the car driver who had hit a young girl on May 23 evening near the Wakad bridge bus stop. The case has been lodged 20 days after the incident, and only after the CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media.

The injured woman has been identified as Akanksha Sanjaysingh Pardeshi (23, resident of Camp, Pune, originally from Kadbrabad, Jalna). The suspect car driver who hit Akanksha has been identified as Tushar Nemade. He has been charged under sections 279 and 337 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 184, 119/177 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Akanksha's brother Utkarsh Sanjaysingh Pardeshi (23, resident of Camp, Pune, originally from Kadbrabad, Jalna) has filed a complaint in this regard with the Hinjewadi police.

According to the police, Akanksha was walking along the road towards the bridge on May 23, 2024, around 4:30 PM, when she was hit from behind by a speeding car allegedly driven by Tushar Nemade near the bus stop at Mauli Snacks. As a result, Akanksha sustained injuries.

In his complaint, Utkarsh Pardeshi has stated, "In the accident, my sister Akanksha suffered a bruise. We then traveled to Mumbai, and doctors had advised her to rest for a few days. We filed a complaint, and a case has now been registered."

This incident came to light after a chilling video of the accident went viral on social media on Tuesday, June 11. The CCTV footage showed Akanksha getting dragged getting hit by the car, which then crashed into the shop. This incident follows closely on the heels of the recent Porsche car accident in Pune.
