Hit-and-Run Horror in Mulshi: 3 Schoolchildren Left Injured as Driver Escapes

Pune: A tragic hit-and-run incident unfolded in the small town of Shere in Mulshi Taluka, where three schoolchildren were seriously injured after being hit by a speeding car.

The accident occurred on the evening of September 5, as the children were walking home after school. The driver of a white Swift Dzire, recklessly speeding and attempting to overtake another vehicle, struck the children before fleeing the scene.

The three victims, identified as Prem Sahebrao Chavan (13), Kartik Rameshwar Mavkar (14), and Samyak Pramod Chavan (14), are students at Mamasaheb Mohol School in Shere (Mulshi).

The incident took place near the Swami Samarth Hotel when the driver lost control during an overtaking maneuver, violently hitting the schoolchildren who were walking along the roadside.

The impact of the collision was so intense that the children were thrown off the road. Locals, witnessing the aftermath, immediately rushed to help the injured children, who were found lying in a pool of blood.

With no sign of the driver or vehicle, who had fled the scene, the children were quickly transported to Paud Rural Hospital via a private rickshaw.

At Paud Rural Hospital, the injured children received first aid before being transferred to Symbiosis Hospital in Lavale for specialized care. One of the victims, Prem Sahebrao Chavan, who suffered severe head injuries, was later taken to KEM Hospital, where emergency surgery was performed.

The local police have initiated a thorough investigation and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle involved in this appalling hit-and-run. The driver, responsible for the reckless act, remains at large, and efforts are ongoing to bring them to justice.

Upon learning of the incident, Anand Pingale, the principal of Mamasaheb Mohol School, along with several teachers, rushed to Symbiosis Hospital to check on the condition of the injured students. As of now, the condition of the three children remains stable, though one remains under close observation due to the severity of his injuries.
