Pune: In a disturbing incident on Katraj Kondhwa Road, a man attacked his wife with a knife on Thursday morning, seriously injuring her due to suspicions about her character.

The Bharati Vidyapeeth police have arrested the husband, identified as Suresh Ramrao Shinde (45). The incident took place around 8 AM.

Anita Suresh Shinde (41), a resident of Omkar Society, Katraj-Kondhwa Road, Katraj, filed a complaint at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station.

Based on the complaint, the accused Suresh Ramrao Shinde (45) has been charged under sections 118(2), 115(2), 352, and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and arrested.

According to the information provided by Police Sub-Inspector Ratikant Koli, the accused Suresh Shinde works as a laborer. He frequently doubted his wife's character, leading to frequent arguments.

On Thursday morning, he accused her of infidelity and, in a fit of rage, attacked her with a knife, inflicting serious injuries. Upon learning of the incident, the police rushed to the scene and took the accused into custody. PSI Koli is conducting further investigation.

In another incident from Mangalwar Peth, a young man was severely injured after being hit on the head with a metal rod by a notorious criminal, in retaliation for a dispute that occurred three years ago. The incident happened on Thursday evening around 6:30 PM in front of a tea stall at Shahir Amar Sheikh Chowk, Mangalwar Peth.

Ganesh Madhukar Lokhande (23) filed a complaint against Faizan Sheikh (24), who, along with his accomplices, assaulted him. Faizan Sheikh, a known criminal with six prior cases at various police stations including Samarth, Faraskhana, Sinhagad Road, Bibwewadi, and Lashkar, has been arrested by Faraskhana police. Further investigation is in progress.
