Pune: A man was assaulted on the road by the husband of a female friend he was helping. The incident occurred under the Kasarwadi Metro Station in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The victim, who runs a shop dealing in old mobile phones, had agreed to drop his friend home after she called him, saying she was unwell.
While they were on their way, her husband called, and she informed him about her whereabouts. The husband then asked them to stop and arrived shortly after, attacking the man with his hands and a key.
A 30-year-old man from Pimpri Gaon has filed a complaint at Bhosari Police Station regarding the incident. Based on this complaint, the police have registered a case against Mehroj Firoz Khan, a resident of Khadki Bazaar.
According to the police, the complainant owns a shop in Pimpri that deals in buying and selling old mobile phones. The complainant received a call from a female friend who informed him that she was not feeling well and asked if he could drop her home from her office in Empire Estate. He agreed and was taking her to her home in Khadki on his two-wheeler.
While they were on their way, her husband called her, and she informed him that she was with the complainant and on the way home. The husband instructed them to wait at their current location, and he would come to them.
They stopped under the Kasarwadi Metro Station. Her husband arrived in a tempo and, without asking any questions, started assaulting the complainant with his hands and a key.
The complainant fell to the ground and began to shout for help. Some bystanders intervened and saved him.
The complainant suffered injuries to his head, lips, and both cheeks, and his mobile phone was damaged. He received treatment at YCM Hospital before filing the complaint. Police Constable Ravindra Jadhav is investigating the case.
